Creation of Future Digital Fashion World by Interdisciplinary Approach of the Artisans – A Perspective

Abstract

As the time passes there is an evolution happening in nature, creations, appearances, living standards etc. The kind of interdisciplinary approach of designers helps in the implementation of an idea or great designs in a better way. The fashion industry is the need for a modern day. Besides these developments advances of smart innovative textiles add a glamour to the present standard of living. Development of smart textiles adds value for the wearer by increasing aesthetic or performance characters. The fashion design software system is a tool for creating a design by using Computer- Aided Design for digital fashion sketches, textiles, illustration, garments, artwork etc. at a faster rate. Digitized fashion development needs some of the areas to concentrate.  Innovations in the various sectors of fashion, textile, clothing, accessories, handicrafts etc. will be the key factors for successful interconnected digitization in the forth-coming years. Various plans help in the digital growth of the fashion industry. The digital fashion world is very delicate and to be handled with utmost care to the consumers before, during and after the purchase of goods. Designing is a multi – disciplinary art entering in the field of science and technology.

1. Introduction

“Change is the law of nature”. As the time passes there is an evolution happening in nature, creations, appearances, living standards etc.  This is very much evidential from the beginning of the universe. Globally the advancement is jet rapid speed in the past few decades. Artisans throughout the world are observing, analyzing and developing new designs in the field of textiles, clothing and fashion to meet the requirements of modern humanity. The kind of interdisciplinary approach of designers helps in implementation of an idea or great designs in a better way. Adaptation of personalized need of a client and supply through digital way drives the overall economic development of a nation.

The fashion industry is the need for a modern day. Prior to the mid-19th century, the industry was limited only to homemade clothing. The rapid growth of industrialization in the later years resulted in mass production of fashionable clothes, which generated employment for people. There is a need to shift in the approach for meeting the demands of a modern consumer through joint efforts of various experts.  Human expertise is required for the development of any good design for various sectors such as casuals, formals, ethnics, party, sports, specialized clothes for defence, space, navy, mining etc.  The fashion or clothing designed should have the property to meet the various challenges in terms of climate, temperature, fire, pollution, bacterial, viral etc.

The fashion industry is undergoing a large-scale change because of technological advancement. All the designers, manufacturers, retailers, need to work together heterogeneously for digitized development of the fashion world for the clienteles and fashionistas. Everything designer has to do is to design and communicate with the people’s emotions and fashion by uncovering a new idea and solution. Besides these development and smart innovative textiles adds a glamour to the present standard of living.


2. Digital Textiles

Development of smart textiles adds value for the wearer by increasing aesthetic or performance characters. Textile materials equipped with nanotechnology, smart technics, sensors, finished with aromatic, microencapsulated, flexible electro textile surface and intelligent design, information storage, drug and nutrient storage, power storage or energy generation etc. will play a vital role in future design. Integration of electronics and optical technologies, biosensor-based technologies applied to textiles is very helpful for the costume design for defence, navy and aerospace. This type of fabric is having an appearance like normal fabrics.

3. Digital Printing

The most advanced digital printing techniques are now available where in 95% of printing applied directly to fabric without using water.  Forecasting on digital textile printing market will grow by 17.5% over the next five years to reach a market value of$2.66 billion. Smithers Pira analysis report on “Future of Digital Textile Printing 2021” confirms that industry will continue to see growth across the 2016-21 period. The exclusive data shows that 870 million square meters of fabric was printed on digital equipment in 2016 and was worth $1.29 billion. The production quantity will increase at a rate of 17.5% CAGR over the next five years to 2021 consuming about 1.95 billion square meters in a particular year and a market value of $2.66 billion.  Fashion design experts will be able to digitize the style, sketch knowledge, design and visualization of concept into a reality fashion product.


4. Digital Fashion through Software’s

The fashion design software system is a tool for creating a design by using Computer- Aided Design for digital fashion sketches, textiles, illustration, garments, artwork etc. at a faster rate. By using the software any clothing style can be created or modified using suitable fabric, colour, texture etc. 3 D style fashion can be created by using 3 D software. Fashion Design Studio is a fashion App works with iPhone and iPad designed for the Mac platform, which helps in the creation of customized design easily. The customized design is applied to models and simulated for various movements such as dance, jump, run, bend etc. that is visualized digitally. Couture and digital technology have integrated the fashion industry in a digitized way.


5. Digital Transformation

Innovations in the various sectors of fashion, textile, clothing, accessories, handicrafts etc. will be the key factors for successful interconnected digitization in the forth coming years. The technological advancement and innovations in various sectors amazingly stepped into the fashion sector, which is going to transform the future fashion industries. For the development of 3D design needs to scan one’s body for a perfect fit and print designer clothes at home or boutique. The ISPO digital Readiness model check clearly depicts the interlinkage of elementary issues.


6. Eco-a Fashion Design through Network Virtual

Social and cultural movements have a large effect on the fashion trend. People are greatly influenced by celebrity fashion. GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) India Seminar 2018 report says, “Indian consumers and brands are looking for ecological fashion products, but gaps remain for criteria and communication. GOTS has the potential to fill these gaps by providing uniform criteria for sustainable production and communication in all parts of the supply chain”. Application of biotechnology, bioengineering in the field of textile manufacturing reduces an impact on the environment. Network Virtual is a new fashion design concept wherein the simulation of fabric is assisted by virtual technology.  This technology enables the user to “see the effects, hear the sound, smell the smell and touch the texture and able to feel the dynamics.


7. Plans and Schemes for textile, garment and fashion sector in India

Development of Khadi, village and coir industries has market promotion and development assistant scheme provides assistance of 30% on the prime cost of Khadi blended cotton, silk, wool and polyvastra for Khadi institutions. Revamped Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI) is started to build up To build up innovative and traditional skills, improved technologies, advanced processes, market intelligence and new models of public-private partnerships, so as to gradually replicate similar models of cluster-based regenerated traditional industries. Coir Industry Technology Up gradation Scheme (CITES) and Skill Upgradation and Mahila Coir Yojana emphasize for a larger investment in the coir sector.

7.1 Perceptions:

Digitized fashion development needs some of the areas to be concentrate as follows-

  • Working with digital graphics interfaces for deigning visualization, creating patterns, manufacturing, prototype presentation and promotion with the concerned experts in the computer sector.
  • Study and curiosity in the market and societal developments  with the knowledge of cultural and political growth
  • Should have professional knowledge and skill about fibre, a material with their properties and able to analyze end-use applications and suitability
  • Look for design fit, feasibility in terms of technicality, functionality, polygiene technology having odour control, nanotechnologies, microencapsulation,  sustainability and social needs
  • Change is inevitable, so go with the flow having various outdoor, indoor, regional and global perspective.

Conclusions

The digital fashion world is very delicate and to be handled with utmost care to the consumers before, during and after the purchase of goods. Designing is a multidisciplinary art entering in the field of science and technology. Smart textiles and wearable technology is gaining popularity and will be the fashion of the future. Most of the fashion sector themes are multi-cultural, environmental protection and intelligent digitization. Rapid developments in the networking information’s technologies drastically changed the clothing styles.
